A Glimpse of Blue Sky is Medicine for My Soul

It was so cold yesterday, snowed off and on, and it was windy... brrr! We had every room in the Inn to clean, so I couldn't just stay in the house and whine.
After we came up the hill last night, the sky was clearing and the sun setting and it was soft and pretty...This morning the sky is blue, yahoo. I have a trip to John Day planned, maybe it will warm up enought to golf? And maybe one day I will have something to blog about besides the weather!

Just Breathe

I am
fighting
the gray
but
it is
bigger
than me.
It's out every
window
It's wrapping around me
engulfing me
swallowing me
* * *
Though little consolation,
I remind myself
that the sun is still shining
above the clouds

Just breathe
Just breathe

Ranching Community

Mike trimmed six apple trees for his rancher-friend Loren, today.... and he will help them brand cattle on Saturday. I drove over there this afternoon and was glad I had my camera. Just so,so peaceful with the cows grazing, river flowing and sun shining.
I hear there are still steelhead running this far inland. This is the Main Fork of the John Day River, a few hundred yards east end of town.

Meet My New Neighbors

I really don't mind having a horse and chickens living next door, but they are really close.... like we hear each other breathe... I don't think our nice neighbor has considered what our front porch view is now... how his 'little farm' looks from this side... It's not the animals, it's the beep of the electronic-solar powed fence tape... the mud, the horse poop, the random farm equipment... I am sure I will just grow acustomed to it, or beg Mike to build a fence... I tried to find a photo of what our view was looking that direction when we put the house here... unobstructed, rolling green hills.. :) Things change. I have learned to not worry over things I have no control over. Hey, the sun is out today and that always makes me happy!

I Move, Think, Breathe, and Count My Blessings, in Slow Motion When the Sky is Gray...

We are adjusting... Mike maybe better than me, to Dayville life.... We have put out most of those little fires that accompanied our homecoming ~and with the exception of the fridge in the Main House not working last time I checked, (and guests due in tomorrow) we are open... We had an RV pull in about 30 minutes ago.. yeah for income! Time to change hats from "desert-rat-golf-bums" to "Inn-keepers"... and responsible business owners...

Homecoming Saga

We drove 15 hours yesterday and 9 1/2 today. Mike doesn't chat or make any conversation while we drive. I had lots of time to think of a clever blog post. Yesterday as we passed Lake Powell late afternoon it was sunny and we had on shorts and flip flops and the A/C on... today at the same time of day, I was thinking, "what a difference a day makes", it was snowing and we had on sweatshirts, long pants and the heater going! I figured that would be my post idea... but gosh the trip got much more interesting once we finally got home.
We were glad we made it before dark and the sky had cleared. I took down the ropes that had blocked the entrance and trotted off to get the "hidden" set of keys. Problem was, I couldn't remember exactly where I had put them! We looked and looked feeling really stupid! Finally we took a window out of the barn and found them on Mike's work bench. Whew! As I walked up the hill to the house I heard clucking and squeeling. Our neighbor has built a new chicken coop, rabbit hutch and goat stall right outside our bedroom window and it is the first thing you see when you pull into our driveway :) I started singing "Old McDonald Had a Farm" really loud and Mike had to shush me! Upon inspecting the house I found the power must have been off for quite some time as all the meat in the freezer had defrosted and then re-froze, a very stinky mess... and there were two rotten eggs in the fridge that smell lovely, too. Okay, I am almost done! The final episode was Mike turning the water back on to the house... he forgot to close the valves to the W/D hookups. I was talking to Lyndee on the phone when I heard it squirting loudly... hung up on her, frantically whistled for Mike.. and we dealt with the mini flood. We have a long day tomorrow... stay tuned!

On The Road Again

Snapped a quick photo before shutting down the computer and heading north. Still not sure if we are going through Nevada or Utah...
Bye bye AZ

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I didn't crop this photo so I could share the beautiful blue sky we enjoyed today when we played in a little golf scramble. Mike played great and he "carried" us to winning low gross. We are starting to get our ducks in a row to head back to Oregon. Our plan is to leave Saturday and be back in Dayville on Sunday night and be ready for guests by Wednesday :)

New Dancer-Friend

We had a few friends over last night, including a couple, Mary Jo and Greg and their 8 (almost 9) year old daughter. I taught Katie how to do the "Electric Slide" line dance. We had fun dancing in the family room! They used to live here in Sunsites, then moved to the East coast and now are moving back to El Paso. Katie was sweet and thankful for a fun night and I gave her my blog address before she left, so... I hope she sees this post... Hi Katie!

Married 25 Years!

I couldn't find a wedding photo in my quick search through Mom's photo albums this morning, but here is one when Dane was less than a year old and I was pregnant with Lyndee.
Happy memories, blessed life...
Thankful!

Birthday :)

My choice for how I wanted to spend my birthday was playing golf at 49er's Country Club in Tucson with our Sunsites "adopted" parents, Glen and Shirley. I did the nostalgia thing, showing them the house I grew up in... and blabbering on about my childhood with horses and forts in the mesquite trees. Mom treated us all to a lovely dinner at la Paloma and God displayed a beautiful sunset to finish off a nice day. I came home to an abundance of love via phone messages and emails.
LG!

Winning Photo

I took this photo October '07 and labeled it "Come for the Golf, Stay for the Sunsets". Most of you who regularly read my blog have seen it many times... anyway, I entered it in a Sunsites Community photo contest and won! I received in the mail yesterday a $50 gift certificate at the Shadow Mountain Restaurant. We used it last night for a good dinner, live country music, and a really nice evening. :)
