These Boots are Made for Dancin'

I went line dancing this afternoon.... it sure is a fun way to get a little exercise! I haven't danced, where a little thinking is involved, in a long time. It's funny how you actually break a sweat when it looks so easy. My boots are getting beat up, I love them and wear them all the time. They came from a thrift store years ago and held flowers as center piece decorations in Callie Carr's wedding... ahh memories... I couldn't find a good quick way to photograph my own feet!

Blessed

It was so warm and nice out yesterday evening, I just walked around with my camera wanting to capture it. Well, you can't photograph the air temp or the sound of the birds chirping as the dive into the hedges to bed down for the night. So, here is a shot of our casita with Mike and the dogs hanging out waiting for the sunset. It was worth the wait!
You don't catch Mike sitting still very often!
Zander still panting from his evening run.
Zoe loves the desert, Mike said she just wouldn't give up on a rabbit she saw run into a bush.... she was still breathing hard two hours later, a tired but very happy dog!

Another Lovely Day!

It was in the 70's today, shorts and sleeveless shirt on the golf course!
I am so appreciative!
LG!

My Monkey "Mikey"

Mike makes our toes curl as we watch him maneuver up ladders and along branches while wielding a chain saw... He gave this Mesquite tree a major trim job today, after helping Paul lay new flooring in a bedroom in the house all day yesterday. Nice to be handy, honey!

"I Will Lift My Eyes Unto the Hills...."

Reading Psalms this morning inspired me to take a photo of hills I was admiring... The Catalinas, specifically, "Finger Rock". This is a zoomed in shot from Mom's back yard in Tucson and it never is anything less than splendid! Amen!

Rocks, Rattlesnakes & Rusty Stuff...

A neighbor told us about a "must see" place called "Rattlesnake Crafts". So, we took a drive on a 20 mile dirt road south out of Pearce, toward Gleeson, and found it! Apparently this old couple have been collecting rusty stuff for years, they like to kill rattlesnakes, and eventually turned into rock hounds as well. Along with all the stuff on display, there is an old trailer with souvenier rattlesnake hat bands, belts, buckles and tons of other novelty and just plain old wierd items. I didn't take any photos in there, but check out some of their collections! (You may have to double click on the photos to see them better.)

On our way home we drove into the hills and got out and walked around and Mary Sue and I found another cave/mining tunnel.

Dancing the Night Away

We had such a fun Valentine's Day. We golfed mid-day, then had a barbecue rib dinner at the Benton's, and then at 9:30 we went dancing! There was a live band at the little bar in town, TJ's... we all said we were just going for one beer and then home... but when we walked in, the music was great and everyone was dancing and having a blast. I don't thing we ever did sit down ~ we danced until the band quit at 12:30!

Gem and Mineral Show

It is pretty impossible to describe the abundance of rocks, beads, crystals, jewelry and international representation at the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show. Six of us drove together from Sunsites and spent the entire day on one area of the show. To view it all would take at least a week! While there were lots and lots of similar items, I loved finding the out of the ordinary. I bought two wall sconces made from goat hides, dyed with natural dyes and painted with henna, from the middle east! We all had such individual taste and all left excited with our finds. I think I could purchase some great things for my gift shop, that tourist to the John Day Fossil Beds, would enjoy ~ but it was too overwhelming to tackle that on my first visit. Pictured is my buddy Mary Sue and her daughter Mandy who drove down from Phoenix and joined us.

Good Sunday Morning

Just a little white dusting on the mountains this morning and a fire in the fireplace, oh yes, it is winter. My drive to and from church was nice, singing along with the radio and breathing in thankfulness. Hugs and smiles!

Blacktail Canyon

At the base of the Stronghold is a rocky road that leads to Blacktail Canyon. We have been there once before with Mom and Paul... I know they remember it well! Yesterday, we parked pretty high up in the canyon and then hiked way up to an outcropping of rocks and took in the view. From there we could see a little mine road leading to some sort of shed, so we hiked back down and drove further up to see if we could reach it.
My legs were too tired to hike further so I started walking back down and took a side road and found a hidden entrance to a large hole in the side of the mountain. An old mine with pools of water. We didn't have a flashlight so didn't go any deeper than where the sun lit it through a hole in the rocks above.
Wish the camera could capture the cool dampness and intriguing feeling we had peeking in!

LG!

Tired Tourist

We went to Tubac today to an annual art show... we drove through Sonoita and down to Nogales and back up to Tubac... I wanted to go that way so I could take photos of the signs below. They are metal cutouts, graceful and artistic, and I can picture them in Eastern Oregon.
The above sign is first and then on the next ridge is the following...
The art show was crowded with tons of vendors and attendees, and it was a nice day. It was interesting, I guess that's an okay word for it, to note the people in attendance. I won't even attempt to stereo type... but, Mary Sue and I were the youngsters!

Sharing Evening Peace

I have had a sweet realization the last couple days... got to see God's perfect love and timing in a great way. I am confident that it is there all the time, but to get to feel it and digest it and not question it, is a sweet experience that we all too often miss. I cannot put into words the peace that comes from knowing that when we trust God with our lives and lift our loved ones to Him, He hears and is faithful, in just the right way, in just the right time!
Be still and know!

Yard Ornament

Mike picked up this sahuaro skeleton last weekend and today had the idea to use it to hide our ugly lamp post.. It will be fun to see how it looks once lit up this evening.

Sunshine, Golf, Sunshine, Golf, Sunshine, Golf....!!

We played in a little tournament yesterday, Mike and Glen and Shirley and me. Two person teams. Shirley and I got 2nd place and the guys got 3rd, and I won longest drive and closest to the pin. Hence we came home with a little money in our pockets. The weather is so wonderful, we are really getting spoiled!
Pictured is Shirley warming up and Mike stretching . I neglected to get my camera back out after the first tee.
